The essence of the traffic light as an object of the human world lies in regulation and restriction, with the red light functioning as a universal imperative of prohibition. One of Vladimir Fyodorov’s (Russian artist and member of the Moscow art group Medical Hermeneutics) sketches transforms the traffic light into a paradoxical object, creating a bridge between the real and the fantastic. Developing this idea, the prohibitive red light becomes its own opposite: a portal to another world that closes after a brief interval, returning the viewer to the everyday.
