Paintbomber v5

The Unfreefall series presented a fundamental challenge: pouring paint onto canvas creates a continuous ribbon rather than a singular, impactful drop. To achieve the visual effect of paint falling as one cohesive mass, the artist developed an innovative device.

The paintbomber operates as a tall vertical tube with a diaphragm trapdoor at the bottom. Paint is loaded inside, and pressing the button triggers the diaphragm to snap open instantly, releasing the paint in one unified clump that falls directly onto the canvas. The device includes a laser-aiming system for precision targeting.

Notably, the artist has made the complete blueprints openly published on GitHub to enable other artists to construct or modify their own versions of the device.
